It's not everyday that you come across a book that takes your breath away, in both good and bad ways. Every Shattered Thing was brilliantly written. It's full of gut-wrenching situations but also filled with poetic beauty.

I was captivated with the heroin, Stephanie. She buried herself with in me. She is a natural born fighter. She is brave. She is special. And She is one heroin that I sat on the sidelines cheering for. Regardless of any and all terrible situations that she was presented with, she won. But not just that, she overcame her weaknesses. I don't want to divulge too too much, but just know Stephanie will forever change you.

I need to add that the secondary characters are truly story changers, for the best. You feel their love and their light, instantly. As I was cheering for Stephanie, I was also cheering for Kevin, Emma, Jude, and Pacey. Your heart will be filled to the brim, while you're aching from within, while reading this life changing story.

It should also be known that there was a beautiful love story woven between the darkness and sadness. It was pure, honest, and absolutely breathtaking. It had me in tears a time or two, and made me want to hug both Stephanie and Kevin. The love was felt from the words shared between these two, but it also showed in the most simple of touches a glances. Gahh...these two are magnificent!!

Author Elora Ramirez stuns you with this soul-piercing story; physically, mentally, and emotionally. This isn't a story for the faint of heart. It's a story of depth, strength, severe sadness, and horrific situations. The underlying message and even the story as a whole had me jumping for joy. It has also become one of my favorite books of 2014. I cannot say enough about Stephanie's story. Take a chance on this story, but remember that there are very graphic situations and that it isn't for everyone. Five Brilliant Stars!

Why I picked this book up

I recently signed up for a blog tour for Somewhere Between Water and Sky by Elora Ramirez which happens to be the second book in this series so of course I had to go and get this book to read first. Both sound very good!

My Thought’s

Every Shattered Thing by Elora ramirez is a tear-jerking, emotional roller coaster ride of a story about Human Trafficking and ones girls story to survive and holding onto hope. It seemed like every second I was crying for Stephenie and her little brother, Pacey or for the fact that these three people in her life who weren't family, Kevin, Emma, & Jude were the only ones who showed her unconditional love and hope.

From the start I was whole heartedly invested in Stephenies story. Trafficking is something that sickens me and needs to be more known.

This story is one that isn’t for the light hearted. Stephenie our MC goes through things no person should ever go through, and it all starts at such a young age. Where are her parents for protection? Why they are right in the front line that is the torture of Stephenie’s life, and believe me it is torture.

I honestly don’t know what I would do if I was in Stephenie’s position but I do know while she may have some issues and run away from her problems but Stephenie is a fighter. I admire her passion, love, and fight for life and the ones she loves.

I was pretty crushed with the ending. Not that it was bad. I just did not expect that betrayl. & it wasn’t exactly a betrayl but I can see how she can see that and for someone who has been through what she has it really had to have sucked.

Every Shattered thing was a exceptional drama that I believe would make a great Lifetime Movie. It kept me engrossed from page one and am so happy to be partaking in a Blog Tour for book 2!

Worth Buying?
To me, TOTALLY! I loved it and am so happy to own on my . I plan on buying for my physical collection too. I loved it that much!

Will I continue the series?
YES!!!!!!! Already have book 2 read actually ;). Loved it that much I couldn't wait to read book 2!
I downloaded this as a free book. The reviews of the book led me to believe this was a moving account of abuse and child prostitution and it sort-of was. Except the child is 17, in high school, with an (admittedly small) circle of peers, neighbours and adult friends, all of whom are aware that the protagonist is regularly assaulted - the neighbours come out to watch. The reasons for any lack of police intervention are far-fetched and no explanation is ever given for the failure of every other mechanism for protection. The father was a puzzling character in that he seemed to veer from white trash to savvy criminal on a regular basis and I found it impossible to form a visual image of him.

Having said that, I persevered to the end and found that some narrative sense finally prevailed. And I enjoyed the author's writing style immensely. I liked the protagonist, found her humorous and articulate with a fine sense of the sarcasm and cynicism one would expect from a person in her situation and I hoped alongside her for an end to her struggles.

If you can suspend disbelief for a while and not apply too much logic to the storyline you will find an engaging character, capable of sustained courage and common sense. I will certainly read the next part of her story.

The sad part was the formatting for kindle, it was hard to know which character was speaking and paragraphs would stop in the middle only to continue from the centre of the next line.
If you can ignore this and read on it is worth it.
