The book has all the elements I love - a romance, a suspense and werewolves; and author Stephanie Wilson put them all to good use, creating a yarn that is believable and probable in a world inhabited by werewolves and humans.

Before I start waxing philosphical, here's a short synopsis: Bitten by a werewolf and left to die, Anna was saved by Adam, the alpha of the pack in Big Horn Mountains, Wyoming. There is attraction between them, but Adam is an alpha and purebred, while Anna is the lowest werewolf in the totem pole and "made", and thus according to tradition, cannot be mate to an alpha. So, how will they find their HEA?

For those of us who follow the werewolf lore, "Taming the Wolf" actually reinforces all the "lore" that had been written. Author Stephanie Wilson took one step further by making the werewolves more human because she put in the element of prejudice and "class" or pecking order. We have always known about the alpha and the beta, but after them, we don't really know how the other wolves are placed in the pecking order. Ms. Wilson took the time to place everyone in the pack. And for that alone, the book is worth 5 stars. Of course, the mystery/suspense was also worth it, so is the romance between Adam and Anna.

The book is rated M for Mature due to violence and sex.

I picked this up after finishing Coveted - Book 3 in the Gwen Sparks Series. I have enjoyed this writers style and thought I would see what she did with werewolves.

I really loved it. I read the book in one sitting, I only stopped to go to my Hockey game, and I read in the car and in between periods.

Anna is just perfect, not too nice not too snarky, but strong willed. I loved how she did not give into her wolf or use it as an excuse to be super loose. She stood up for herself without coming across as a witch. An admirable trait I myself lack, so I always appreciate a character like that.

I will immediately purchase the next in the series when it comes out. If you like paranormal I would try the Gwen Sparks series if you have not already. It gets better with each book.

This author is rapidly becoming an auto purchase for me. I don't have a ton of authors where I like all there series. Sometimes I will love one and not the next, there are very few I can read all of their books, so far Stephanie Nelson is one I can ).
I snagged Taming the Wolf from the free list because I wanted a bit of titillating fluff and that is just what I got. Anna Avery is exceedingly strong-willed and having trouble adjusting to her subservient position as a low-ranking werewolf. However, the males of the pack seem to enjoy the challenge she presents.

I thought that the book felt very much like a lighter JR Ward. The use of the aggressive alpha male (in this case also the alpha wolf), the strong bonding, the incorporation of the characters' scent into their attraction (though that's to be expected from a werewolf), the fact that the characters mentally stated "mine" in much the same manner, and the use of odd punctuation, such as She.is.mine., to make a point explicit. Despite the similarities the story does stand on its own two...uh 4 feet...er paws.

There were a few editorial issues, most common in the sex scenes (or sexually tense scenes). I could almost imagine some poor editor blushing through them without enough attention to detail due to their own innocent embarrassment. I can often overlook such things, but in the middle of the most pivotal points in the book makes it difficult.

I read it in an evening and despite not generally enjoying first person or present tense narratives I don't consider my time wasted.
I snagged TAMING THE WOLF quite awhile ago when it was free on and I guess I really didn't know what to think about it, but I loved it! I've recently become obsessed with shifters/werewolves (I blame it on two specific ladies) and Nelson did not disappoint! The minute I finished reading it, I called my cousin and got her to read it too. After a few days, we sat around the house fangirling over Adam.

And there's SO MUCH to fangirl about!

I enjoyed, most of all, the twist in folklore and the daring scenes Nelson brought to this series. After reading hundreds of books, your taste starts to change and when you read that ONE book that hits the mark, you're so sure you're never letting it go! TAMING THE WOLF hit home for me -- I loved Anna's personality and her badass exterior. The very smoldering scenes between her and Adam were just HOT HOT HOT! Literally, someone needs to add a CAUTION sign to this book. Just so HOT.

The story line of the book is rather smooth, and smooth in the way that I didn't expect what happened to happen. I was really left with an open jaw by the end, my heart practically dangling from a line as I flipped pages. And, side note, this just isn't the kind of book you want to be reading when your kindle dies on you. I threw a fit for all of five minutes before I found my charger and started reading again...

And when you dive for the charger, you know something's good!

The love triangle? Oh, gawsh. Someone get me a drool bib! Nelson really kicked it up a notch with this new series and I've learned the second installment will be releasing in March! Think I can wait that long? Hell no. Am I going to try? Of course -- with eager anticipation!

5 BRIGHT STARS!
